I think we all wonder, was the fact that NIN's cd "Year Zero" is free online, a good thing(for Trent and NIN) or a bad thing? Do you think that it will lead to more sales for "Year Zero pt.2" or was it a big mistake?

Well personally I would say it was a good choice. But it will take time to become really good. The fact that "Year Zero" was given for free online, gave NIN WAY more exposure, and made it so people who would have never listened to them, listen to them. And become NIN fans. So although I would say it dropped the sales of "Year Zero pt.1" Pt.2 will sell WAY more.

I would say it was bad for Nine Inch Nails as they have lost their respect with the mainstream for their lack of sales. Nobody takes them seriously anymore. Part 2 probably won't even come out anymore.

Anyway "Year Zero" still sold pretty decent, something like 400 thousand copies, which is still enough to probably make a Part 2. |

That is a ginormous decline from With Teeth! Think about it! With Teeth sold like over a million copies! UMG may see the decline and be warry about promoting year zero part 2 since nobody likes year zero part one.

But I don't think NIN is over yet, I honestly think the fact that it was free lowered its sales a ton, I personally think that it will increase their sales for their next album, but who knows, maybe I'm wrong. |
